LITTLE SILVER, N.J., May 1, 2018 – Education Foundation of Little Silver (EFLS) announced that it has again raised over $100,000 for Little Silver’s public schools, which will fund critical technology grants at Point Road School and Markham Place School. This funding, raised through generous donations from Little Silver residents and local area businesses, ensures that teachers and students can access innovative educational tools and current technology without raising the district’s cost structure and local tax burden. Donations were obtained primarily through the EFLS’ annual fundraiser, held in March at The Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel in Asbury Park.
Proceeds from the March event will be used to support Little Silver school administration with their “One to One” initiative. The district has reached a point where every student in 1st through 8th grades has his or her own device, and this grant will help the administration establish a predictable cycle of purchasing. The EFLS also approved the purchase of three additional Chromebooks for the Little Silver Public Library. In addition, the EFLS approved some exciting new devices for the STEM program at Point Road School, such as a Wonder Mat, which is an accessory that works with the Dash Robots, and “Let’s Makey Makey”, an invention kit for the 21st century that promotes art and engineering. The EFLS also approved SurfacePros for several teachers and a JTouch Board for Markham Place School.
The EFLS is always looking for help from our community. If you are interested in learning how you can help the EFLS throughout the year or with our annual fundraiser, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
