We need your support!
We would love to have your help with The Education Foundation of Little Silver in the coming year. We are a small group of volunteers (moms and dads) that organize one big fundraiser each year that funds 95% of our total donation to the schools.
Please consider supporting the EFLS! Just let us know how much time you have to help and your interests, and we’ll match you to the right spot!

Descriptions and responsibilities of committees:
-Help to research the “impact versus effort” fundraising opportunities that come to the EFLS as well as additional ways to raise money throughout the year.
-Research corporate matching and giving programs to help us inform community members about ways that they can help us.
-Present and/or provide the ideas/information to the EFLS board members and trustees.
POWER ON Week:
-Join the committee and help to communicate/educate the community about what the Education Foundation of Little Silver does.
-Help to recruit more members and plan events/meetings.
-Staff a table during POWER ON week or greet parents at Markham Place or Point Road schools.
POWER OFF Week:
-Help to promote POWER OFF Week (scheduled for May 2016) throughout the community and in the schools to help families understand the importance of stepping away from technology.
-Work to plan the events surrounding POWER OFF and brainstorm new ideas and execute them.
-Work with EFLS and principals/teachers at each school to ensure that lines of communication are open.
-Can include: helping to draft memos to the principals/teachers, reaching out to teacher contacts at each school to communicate information from the EFLS, attending meetings for the teachers to ensure they are aware of deadlines/upcoming events for the EFLS, and communicating relevant information back to the EFLS.
-Help with overall marketing and graphic design for all aspects of the EFLS.
-Can work on materials for one specific event or for all (Power On/Power Off Weeks, Fundraiser, etc.).
-Provide PR support for the organization and the event, from drafting focused press releases and reaching out to local media to raise awareness for the impact the EFLS is making to drafting message points for an event or weekly email newsletter listings for the PTO newsletter.
-Help to organize grants as they come in to the EFLS.
-Work with teacher liaisons and EFLS to ensure information is disseminated properly.
-Prepare letters and communication to go out to schools regarding deadlines and procedures for our grant process.
Thank You’s and Correspondence:
Work with all members of the EFLS to write thank you notes, send email thank you notes and order/arrange for any thank you gifts needed throughout the year.
Work with the administration team and technology teachers to help with the bi-annual technology night to show parents what the kids are doing in school with technology! A great night for kids and families and the EFLS.
Help to plan and execute the 2016 end of school year Waterpark event.
ANNUAL FUNDRAISER EVENT PLANNING COMMITTEES
General Event Help:
Keep me on the email list for anything and everything event related. I can’t commit to a specific committee, but I want to help put together this fun event by helping stuff and stamp envelopes, hang up signs, wrap auction baskets or drink wine and brainstorm!
Learn the ins and outs of our digital bidding program. Work with the BidPal company to understand how we can better utilize the tools they provide. Work with Event Steering Committee to enter data and organize the information in the BidPal system.
Find new ways to utilize BidPal throughout the year. Help support the Event Steering Committee
-Help to decide what types of decorations we need at our 2016 event.
-Work with committee to research costs, order and put the decorations together for the event.
Work on a committee to reach out to local businesses and families to raise money for the EFLS.
-Work on a committee to put together the LIVE and SILENT auction for the event. This is one of the largest sources of fundraising for the EFLS, and takes many hands to pull all of the auction items together.
-This can include putting together baskets the 2 weeks leading up to event; approaching and following up with local businesses/retail/service companies to ask for donations of goods/services and brainstorming ideas of baskets that will raise money at the event.
Work on a committee to plan and organize the entertainment for the 2016 event (in addition to Brian Kirk & the Jirks, as they are already booked).
Help art teachers and EFLS committee heads to complete artwork to be auctioned off at the event. A great committee if you want to spend some time in the classrooms to help with artwork!
Act as representative in your neighborhood to help raise money for the EFLS event. Each neighborhood representative will be given a clear set of instructions, guidelines, deadlines and sample letters to help you reach out to all of your neighbors.
