This Year’s Donation Includes a Special Grant to Fund a New Multimedia Innovation Center at Mark-ham Place School.

LITTLE SILVER, N.J., May 4, 2017 – the Education Foundation of Little Silver (EFLS) announced today that it has again raised over $100,000 for Little Silver Public Schools, which will fund critical technology grants at Point Road and Markham Place. This funding, raised through generous donations from Lit-tle Silver residents and local area businesses, ensures that teachers and students can access innovative educational tools and current technology without raising the district’s cost structure and local tax burden. Donations were obtained primarily through the EFLS’ annual fundraiser, held in March at The Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel in Asbury Park.

“The annual fundraising event for the EFLS was an enormous success,” Dr. Carolyn Kossack, Superintendent of Schools, Borough of Little Silver. “This demonstrates that the community can meaningfully impact the school district by exceeding amounts raised in previous years and fulfilling the EFLS’s goal of providing at least $100,000 to place current technology into the hands of our children and teachers. It is with heartfelt gratitude that I thank the members of the EFLS, the sponsors, private donors, staff and attendees who made this year’s event so successful!”

The EFLS is thrilled to announce that Markham Place School will be outfitted with a new Multi Media Innovation Center (MMIC) in the coming months. The MMIC will provide opportunities to integrate multimedia technologies and current curriculum, thereby allowing Markham students to learn in newly engaging and meaningful ways. Though the EFLS will help facilitate the development of the MMIC, it will be funded entirely through the generosity of a single donor, independent of the EFLS.
Proceeds from the March event will be used to fund teacher requests submitted through the annual EFLS grant process. This year’s grant requests include such items as Chromebooks, Smart TVs, Surface Pros, and the like and will be funded once approved by EFLS trustees this month.

“What an amazing year the EFLS had in 2017, thanks to an outstanding show of community support,” said Kris Kennedy Scuorzo, EFLS President. “On behalf of the EFLS, I want to thank our generous sponsors, the Little Silver teachers and the Board of Education, as well as the countless individuals who volunteered, attended and donated to our annual fundraiser. It is such a thrill to see our community come together for one common and worthwhile goal.”
